Processing Differences Between Sulfide and Oxide Gold Ore in Tanzania Mixed Ore Project
Most gold ore resources in Tanzania are mixed ore deposits composed of sulfide gold ore and oxide gold ore. The difference in mineral composition, structural characteristics and leaching performance between the two types of ore is the core difficulty restricting the improvement of local gold processing recovery rate. The 1200t/d gold mineral processing plant project is a typical mixed sulfide-oxide gold ore development project. Xinhai Mining accurately grasped the processing differences between the two ores and formulated targeted segmented processing schemes, finally achieving excellent beneficiation results.
In this project, the sulfide gold ore has a grade of 10.7g/t, which is the main high-grade ore source of the project. Sulfide gold ore has a dense and hard mineral structure, gold minerals are closely symbiotic with sulfide gangue minerals, and the ore has strong chemical stability. In the leaching process, sulfide ore requires sufficient cyanide reagent dosage, longer leaching time and stable pulp alkalinity environment to fully dissolve the wrapped gold elements. If the leaching parameters are not adjusted properly, gold will be incompletely leached, resulting in serious resource loss.
The oxide gold ore of the project has a grade of 2.4g/t, with loose and porous ore texture, low mineral hardness and easy dissociation of gold monomers. However, oxide gold ore is extremely prone to mudification during grinding and pulping. A large amount of fine mud will cover the surface of gold particles and activated carbon, block the pulp gap, reduce the contact efficiency between cyanide liquid and gold minerals, and seriously affect the leaching and adsorption effect. This is the main reason for the low recovery rate of oxide gold ore in traditional processing technology.
Aiming at the above obvious processing differences between the two ores, Xinhai Mining’s technical team carried out targeted process optimization. For high-grade sulfide ore, the team appropriately extended the leaching time, increased the dosage of protective alkali and cyanide reagent, and ensured full dissociation and leaching of wrapped gold. For low-grade oxide ore, the team optimized the grinding fineness to avoid excessive mudification, adjusted the pulp stirring speed to improve fluidity, and prevented fine mud from covering gold particles.
Through differentiated parameter adjustment and process control, the project successfully realized efficient leaching of mixed ore, with the sulfide ore leaching rate reaching 93.75% and the oxide ore leaching rate reaching 91.58%. This fully proves that targeted processing technology according to ore differences is the key to improving the comprehensive recovery rate of mixed gold ore.
