Construction Management and Achievement Summary of Tanzania 1200t/d Gold EPC+M+O Project

Overseas mineral processing project construction faces multiple challenges such as complex site environment, inconvenient resource transportation and insufficient local technical supporting conditions. The 1200 tons daily capacity gold mineral processing plant built in Tanzania is a full-process EPC+M+O project undertaken by Xinhai Mining. Relying on advanced gold extraction technology, perfect technological flow design and rigorous whole-process construction management, the project successfully copes with various construction difficulties, realizes high-standard plant construction and stable high-efficiency production, and becomes a successful overseas mining engineering case with dual advantages of technical strength and construction management capability.

From project attribute positioning, this gold plant belongs to integrated EPC+M+O service project covering engineering design, equipment procurement, on-site construction, production management and later operation. The processing object is mixed sulfide and oxide gold ore, with gold grade of 10.7g/t and 2.4g/t respectively. Gold is the only valuable recyclable element in the ore, and the difference of ore characteristics puts forward higher requirements for process design and production operation. In order to fully tap mineral economic value, the project applies classic all-slime cyanidation gold extraction technology, and gains remarkable production achievement, with sulfide ore leaching rate up to 93.75% and oxide ore leaching rate reaching 91.58%.
In order to achieve such excellent production indicators, Xinhai designed a complete and matched processing solution for the project. The whole production line adopts segmented and linked working mode, covering crushing, grinding classification, separation extraction and tailings disposal four major modules. Open-circuit crushing process is used in the crushing stage to complete primary crushing and particle size homogenization of raw ore. Closed-circuit grinding cooperating with cyclone classification effectively controls grinding fineness and ensures ore slurry meets leaching reaction standard.
The core separation work relies on all-slime cyanidation process to realize effective separation of gold elements. Gold-bearing carbon generated from leaching reaction enters desorption electrolysis system for deep extraction, and gold slime is obtained after separation and then made into finished gold products by smelting. For waste materials after production, tailings are treated by thickening and dewatering and stacked safely, realizing standardized and environmentally friendly waste disposal. Scientific and reasonable process layout lays solid technical foundation for the long-term stable operation of the processing plant.
Excellent project achievement is inseparable from meticulous pre-construction overall planning. Before breaking ground, Xinhai management and technical team carried out comprehensive deployment work. The team formulated standardized project management system to clarify personnel responsibility division and progress assessment standard. Meanwhile, professional construction technical specifications were set according to local site condition and equipment installation demand. In terms of resource guarantee, the team made sufficient reserve and scheduling plan for construction materials, mechanical equipment and construction tools, and established smooth coordination mechanism among all departments and partners. Complete advance planning greatly reduces uncertain risks in construction process.
The remote location of the Tanzanian construction site brings many practical obstacles to on-site construction work. Material supply interruption, mechanical equipment shortage, insufficient professional technical personnel and other problems appear successively in the construction period. Facing these practical difficulties, the construction team did not delay the construction progress, but took targeted and effective solutions in time. Through rational allocation of existing manpower and equipment resources, supplementary procurement of scarce materials and technical training for local workers, various construction obstacles were eliminated one by one, ensuring the project advancing steadily according to the scheduled construction schedule.
Equipment safety protection is another key work affecting construction quality. Most production equipment of the gold plant is manufactured with thin steel material. This kind of equipment has light weight and reasonable structural design, but it is easy to produce irreversible deformation under extrusion and impact force during hoisting and long-distance transportation. Once the equipment is deformed, it will directly affect installation accuracy and later production operation effect. For this reason, the construction team formulated special protection operation norms, adopted balanced hoisting mode and shockproof transportation measures, avoided violent handling of equipment, fully protected the structural integrity and use performance of all facilities, and effectively guaranteed the overall construction quality of the processing plant.
After finishing all construction, installation and commissioning work, the Tanzania 1200t/d gold processing plant officially puts into production. The whole technological flow operates smoothly, each processing index reaches the design standard, and stable high gold leaching benefit is maintained. This project not only brings good economic returns for mining investors, but also fully displays Xinhai’s comprehensive strength in overseas EPC+M+O project contracting, technological process design and on-site construction management, accumulating rich practical experience for subsequent overseas mineral processing project cooperation.
