Industrial Application of High-Temperature Roasting: How to Improve the Purification Effect of High-Purity Quartz

High-temperature roasting is one of the most widely used industrial purification technologies in the field of high-purity quartz stone. Its mature process, stable operation and low cost have been favored by many manufacturers. However, in actual production, how to control process parameters to improve purification effect and reduce energy consumption is a key issue that enterprises need to solve. For detailed process details and technical points of high-temperature roasting, you can refer to my webpage: Two methods for purifying high-purity quartz stone.

The key to improving the purification effect of high-temperature roasting lies in the control of temperature, vacuum degree and roasting time. First, the temperature must be controlled above 1000°C. Too low temperature cannot cause the burst of gas-liquid inclusions and the transformation of quartz lattice, resulting in poor impurity removal effect; too high temperature will increase energy consumption and may cause excessive deformation of quartz lattice, affecting the quality of quartz products. Secondly, the vacuum degree should be maintained at 0.01Mpa, which can not only form a sufficient pressure difference inside and outside the inclusions, but also promote the volatilization and diffusion of impurities and hydroxyl groups.

In addition, the roasting time also needs to be reasonably controlled. Too short roasting time will lead to incomplete lattice transformation and impurity diffusion, while too long roasting time will increase production cycle and energy consumption. Generally, the roasting time is determined according to the particle size of quartz sand and the initial impurity content. For quartz sand with fine particle size and low impurity content, the roasting time can be appropriately shortened; for quartz sand with coarse particle size and high impurity content, the roasting time needs to be extended.
In addition, pre-treatment of quartz sand before high-temperature roasting is also very important. By removing surface impurities and moisture of quartz sand, the purification effect can be further improved and the service life of roasting equipment can be prolonged. In general, reasonable control of process parameters and good pre-treatment can maximize the purification effect of high-temperature roasting and produce high-quality high-purity quartz stone.
